I want to share one of my methods of link building and web traffic generation. I created a new word out of this method, SquidMarking, since the it uses two of the famous web applications of the Web 2.0 era, Squidoo and social bookmarks.

The concept is plainly simple — to create a web framework composed of a series of interlinking webpages through the use of RSS feeds. You can then add the your site to the basic framework which will then eventually update other webpages belonging to the framework.

For the purpose of the tutorial on how to create the framework, the example will be using 3 social bookmarks - Digg, Furl, and Simpy - and of course, Squidoo. Those who want to try this should have at least registered to the following websites. The example uses only 3 social bookmarks, but you can infinitely add more to the list. However, the social bookmark you’ll be adding should have a RSS feed of the websites that you have bookmarked to them, as it will be an important ingredient in completing the framework.

Steps in creating the basic framework
For every social bookmark that you add to the framework, create a corresponding “partner lens” in Squidoo. The “partner lens” should syndicate the RSS feed of your submitted website in the corresponding social bookmark. Tip: The RSS Module in Squidoo is the only required module when creating a lens. However, you can still add more to beef up your lens content such as the Amazon Module, Ebay Module, or the Superstore Module.

Submit each Squidoo lens to all the social bookmark except its social bookmark partner. “Digg Squidoo lens” should be submitted to Furl and Simpy but not on Digg. Do the same for the other lens as well.

Finished! This is already a basic framework. I recommend that more social bookmarking sites be added to create more interlinking pages.

How to add a webpage
Submit the webpage to all social bookmark sites in the framework. If your website has an RSS feed, I recommend that a “partner lens” be created for that RSS feed. Then, also submit the RSS feed to all the social bookmark sites in the framework.
