Concealed Links in Forums

One of the ways where a link builder ventures into is to join a number of forums and post tremendous amounts of replies to existing threads and at the same time creating new threads that in itself has a natural attraction for other forum members to reply to that thread. Thread topics such as “Describe the person above”, “What Song are You Listening Right Now?”, are examples to illustrate.
Where do link building begin? It is when the member has enough number of posts that enable him/her to put a signature below his/her posts. The signature can contain links to a website, or an image maybe. But all of the time, for link building purposes, an anchor text with a link to a particular site is a typical signature for link builders. However, forums administrators usually regulate this practice by requiring members to reach a certain number of posts before allowing them to use signatures with links.
This method is very simple. You just need to link an emoticon to your desired site. In VBulletin-powered forums for instance, you just put in the emoticon code when composing a message, highlight it, then click on the “hyperlink” button, then enter your site.
Here’s a sample code for the Big Grin emoticon with link:

The only drawback is that you cannot use an anchor text for the link because you’ll be using an emoticon to hide the link. Nonetheless, like what I always believe in, a link is still a link. 
LinkIdol’s RapidPicks Social Bookmarking Contest

Make Money Selling Links at Text Link Ads

There is an existing thread in one forum which I am a member about how bloggers monetize their websites. It is so amusing to know that there are bloggers who are too active in writing and creating fresh original content but have little knowledge or strategy in monetizing their content. Some of them are still depending on Google Adsense which I am personally do not have the same luck as far as making money online is concerned.
So what do I recommend? Link selling is definitely on the top of my list!
One of the preferred link broker programs is Text-Link-Ads. It is one of the top money makers for link sellers and continues to grow in terms of market share and income generation. Much has been written about the program but for the purpose of providing would-be link sellers and those like the bloggers I mentioned above, I will be writing this post to describe what Text-Link-Ads is and what you should do in order to be accepted in their system.
Text-Link-Ads is a system where you can sell links on your websites. These links may be in the form of a sitewide link or a homepage link. But that was before. They now offer a variety of link options for advertisers and at the same time a variety of income opportunities for webmasters and bloggers.
When your site is accepted in Text-Link-Ads, you’ll set how many ads your site will serve. These ads are text links and mostly contain word or phrases that advertisers want their sites to be optimized in the search engines. These ads usually reside on the sidebar of websites particularly blogs. Other put them in the footer but links are less marketable if it is located in the footer.
If the site is a blog and is powered by Wordpress, it may also opt to accept text ads that will be located after blog posts. In this way, ads will naturally appear as part of the post. Sites can also offer InLinks, or links that are located within the blog posts. In this type of link selling, advertisers will look at existing blog posts and choose words or keywords relevant to their site. When they buy that word, that particular word will be linked to the advertisers’ site and the blogger will be paid for that link. This is very popular among link buyers since links are contained in blog posts and search engines will see it as natural links. Imagine if your blog hosts hundreds if not thousands of posts, the income potential is limitless.
In addition to the aforementioned options, if you have a substantial number of feed subscribers, you can configure your sites to accept RSS advertising. I personally don’t have this type of advertising on my sites but I believe many are making money out of this. Number of subscribers is the key here.
If you do already have a site, is it worth submitting to Text-Link-Ads for consideration and acceptance in their program? Before you begin filling up the forms and hitting the Submit button, please read along then decide whether it is worth the risk
Work on your site first. As the cliché goes, content is king. I mentioned that it doesn’t have to be original, but it should not be scraped or spammy. This claim of mine needs another blog post and it will not be elaborated here. But for regular bloggers, this should not be a problem since most of them create enormous and original content on the niches they have chosen. Text-Link-Ads is not an ordinary text link broker where your site can be easily accepted. If you have been a member of Text Link Ads before, you’ll agree with me that they are more meticulous in accepting new sites to their system at present than they were last year. You even have to maintain good site rankings. In fact, one of my sites was removed from their system for having very low traffic. This site used to earn $100++/month for heaven’s sake, but it was not spared. Don’t suffer the same fate. Work on your site first.
Other important factors that I consider are PageRank (PR) and Alexa Ranking. In my experience, a site with a PR of 3 has a greater chance to be accepted than those without PR. In addition, web traffic is now an essential measure, like what I have mentioned that happened to my site. I recommend having a <200,000 Alexa Ranking before you submit your site. In short, at least a PR of 3 and an Alexa Ranking of <200,000 must be met first.
What if your site, particularly your blog, is not accepted? Is there a way where you can resubmit your site after it has improved its overall ranking in terms of PageRank, Alexa rating, and other considerations?
When your site is not accepted and you resubmit it, the system will show a message that it had already been submitted. It will also say that they are doing monthly assessment of websites previously submitted and your site may be approved if it has met their minimum qualifications. Is there a way to get around with this? Yes there is, but that will be another story.
List of Online Video Social Sites

In fact, most companies are using these online video services since almost all of them are free which entails lesser marketing and promotion costs for the companies. These video sites may not directly help you in obtaining backlinks from these authority sites, but if you are after a massive advertising campaign targeting millions of potential visitors and customers, this list is a must have.

PageRank is not Solely Based on Backlinks
There will be a lot of people which may disagree with my observations, but I think PageRank (PR) now is more flexible than before, and it is determined not just on the basis of the number of backlinks pointing to a particular page and is also not based on the old mathematical calculations used to assign the value of that little green bar in the Google toolbar.
Why do I have that kind of observation?
If backlinks is not the sole basis for PageRank, what are the other factors? I think content is still the key. Coupled with links (even for a few) from high authority sites and relevant niches, surely PageRank will be assigned to that particular site. Last time, I have a PLR article site with no PR at all. I started promoting the sites by linking it to relevant websites and submitting it to high authority social bookmarking sites. After two weeks, Google began updating the PR of sites and would you believe my sites PR went to 4 from N/A? I was even wondering why it happened. I was thinking that it was a mistake but as for my other sites, they experienced the same, climbing from 1-2 notches in their PR value.
Take this blog for example. The very first post made on this blog was dated September 1, 2008 and if I remember it right, I just installed this blog a day earlier that is August 31. Two days ago, Google again updated the PR of websites and to my surprise, this site’s PR rose to 3 from nothing, and the site is not even a month old. You can even check the number of backlinks this site have and you will really think why the hell it has 3 when it has a little number of links pointing to it. I have proven this method to many of my sites and I am sharing this to you my dear readers. You may want to experiment first on one of your sites and I will be glad to receive your feedback and your own observations.
If you allow me to share, here’s my definitive list of must-haves to have a good PageRank even if your site is relatively new.
- Quality content. It doesn’t have to be 100% original, but still the keyword is QUALITY.
- In-content links on relevant PAGES.
- Sitewide links on relevant WEBSITES.
- Links from authority sites (quality social bookmarks, content pages like Squidoo)
- Good layout of websites. Not spammy and full of ads.

LinkWorth: Is it worth it?

LinkWorth is one of the most popular advertising portals where webmasters can earn unlimited income through selling advertising spaces on their websites. I have been a member of this program for over two years now and I am very satisfied with their service and the way they market my sites to their army of advertisers.
They charge 30% for the income that your sites generate. For instance, if your website earns $100 per month, they will deduct $30 and you’ll get $50. You can upgrade your membership for free and instead of charging 30%, they will charge you 50%. So why the hell upgrade if they will take more money from you? Upgrading lets your site appear first in the search results when advertisers look for potential ads locations in the marketplace. This may sound so silly, but I tell you, if your sites have quality content, upgrading is all worth it. Also, they pay at the 10th day of the month and one may choose to be paid through Paypal.
LinkWorth offers a lot of income opportunities for your websites. Here are them:
LinkAds - enables you to sell links on the pages of your websites. Advertisers ask for keywords/phrases to be placed on your webpages and you’ll get paid on a monthly basis, on a price that you will set when you submit your site for approval.
LinkPost - this is their posting review service. Get paid for reviewing products and services from various advertisers. This is open for blogs that are approved and admitted to their system.
LinkWords - this is similar to PPC advertisements like Adsense and Clicksor. You’ll get paid for every click on the ad that will appear on your webpages.
LinkTxt - this is my personal favorite. You can sell links on the existing content of your websites. If you’re running a blog and you have a lot of posts, this one is the most appropriate for you.
LinkBB - this is a full-page ad that can be served in your websites.
One caution about using their system is that don’t remove any advertising from your site when that ad should be active or not cancelled by the advertiser. It is because LinkWorth will refund the amount of the advertising to the advertiser and that you’ll get “penalized” of an amount more than what has been refunded. I had this server downtime before and I didn’t notice that my site (with an active link) was not accessible. To my surprise, I was charged a negative amount in LinkWorth and my total balance fell to -$30.
Is LinkWorth worth joining? YES, definitely. With a horde of revenue opportunities through various means they provide to web publishers, the income potential is really limitless.
The next question is: Is your site worth accepting in the LinkWorth network? Yes or No, or Maybe. Submitting a site is not as easy as clicking the Submit button in a submission page. A lot of factors must be met first before taking into consideration submitting a site for inclusion to their system. But that’s another story.
